The Israel-Gaza conflict escalates as Hamas Ambush kills 8 soldiers

There’s no sign of a ceasefire to the Israeli–Hamas conflict as eight soldiers supporting the Israel defense forces succumbed to death after being attacked by Hamas fighters in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

Hamas, the Palestinian militant organization which rules the Gaza Strip, said that the operation was conducted by the Qassam Brigades, its military wing, describing the attack as a ‘complicated ambush on the Zionist ‘trespassers’ military vehicles’.

Regarding the findings, they claimed the use of Yassin-105 RPGs, where they attacked a D9 military bulldozer and killed and injured an unknown number of soldiers. As with the first “rescue force” vehicle, the second vehicle was attacked and destroyed with the loss of the occupants.

The Israeli military affirmed this occurrence, explaining that the eight soldiers ‘ were killed during operational activity in southern Gaza. ‘ Daniel Hagari, the military spokesman, also expressed that there would be further investigation to establish the particulars of the attack.

The recent victims have now spurred the demand for a halt in the battle as well as more Israeli people’s rage. As the ground operation of enter into Gaza continued from October 27, 2009, at least 307 troops have already been reported dead, and more than 37,000 Palestinians have died, mostly women, children and the elderly.

Firing activity is ongoing in Rafah; despite the global condemnation of the attack, IDF forces are advancing deep into the town, which is home to hundreds of thousands of civilians who have no access to food, water, or other essentials. The recent civil unrest has not eased, with both Camps sticking to their grounds, leaving the region’s future unknown.
