Tottenham secures Kudus from West Ham for £55 million

The Ghanaian midfielder, who had a £85m release clause, has signed for Spurs on a six-year deal until 2031. West Ham turned down an initial £50m from Tottenham last week. Kudus, 24, played 65 Premier League games for the Hammers, scoring 13 goals and making nine assists.

I’m pleased and can’t wait to get going. He may be joined by Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who will undergo a medical at Spurs on Friday before finishing a £60m transfer.

Kudus has been an integral part of West Ham’s team ever since he joined in August 2023, a £38m transfer from Ajax. He came off the bench to play his top-flight debut in a victory over Luton Town later that month before netting his first goals for the Hammers in the Europa League group stage soon after.

During his inaugural season at West Ham, he netted 14 goals, of which nine were assists. Sources informed BBC Sport that Kudus had put in a move to north London ahead of at least six other top clubs, including interest from them.

He mentioned head coach Thomas Frank, who took over from former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou last month, as one of the primary reasons he joined Tottenham. From where [Frank] has come from, and seeing the amount of talent he has developed to become a great player, it’s a big sign as to why I wanted to work under him as well,” Kudus added.
