Truck attack at West Bank-Jordan border kills Three Israeli guards amid escalating conflict

Three killed in shooting attack at West Bank-Jordan border crossing.

Three people were shot dead in an incident at the Allenby Bridge Crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan on Sunday.

As per the Israeli military, a truck driver opened fire at the border point, killing three Israeli security guards. The assailant was then “eliminated” by security forces.

The crossing is operated by private security alongside Israeli personnel. Magen David Adom confirmed three individuals died of gunshot wounds at the site.

The driver had reached the area from the Jordanian side in a truck, exiting the vehicle to fire at Israeli forces manning the checkpoint, said the military.

While clarifying the victims were working as guards, not army or police members. Jordan is probing the matter and closed the Jordanian side of the crossing.

Violence has surged in the West Bank since last year’s Gaza war broke out in October following Hamas’ attack on Israel.

As per Palestinian authorities, at least 662 West Bank Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers during this period. 23 Israelis also died in Palestinian attacks.

The latest attack underscores spiraling tensions amid a significant escalation in the long-running Israel-Palestine conflict across the volatile region.
