Trump and Harris campaign in key swing state Pennsylvania

Both US President Donald Trump and the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris are planning to crisscross the state of Pennsylvania this weekend. Pennsylvania is one of the swing states that can tilt the balance when the presidential election is held in November this year.

Trump is expected to attend a campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, while Harris will conduct a bus campaign with several stations in Pittsburgh on Sunday. The focus on Pennsylvania, one of several swing states that play a significant role in determining the election result, has been made in view of recently conducted surveys revealing a fairly tight race between the Republican candidate and his Democrat opponent in some important areas.

According to a recent New York Times columnist and Siena College poll, Harris, who began her campaign after Biden opted not to run for re-election, has gained impressive ground in states that Trump won in a walk in 2016. The poll puts her ahead of Trump among the likely voters in Arizona and North Carolina while cutting the gap with him in Georgia and Nevada.

Also, another week’s poll has shown that Harris is favored by 50% among the voters across Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and less favored Trump with 46% of the vote from the same three states. The elevation of Harris in the Democratic ticket has added new vigor to a contest that seemed rather unpalatable to many citizens of the United States because of the options between Trump and Biden.

In the last election, Trump only marginally lost this state; he has supporters in rural swaths and small cities. Since Harris is now fronting the Democrats’ campaign, Trump is struggling to respond properly to her.

Trump has lately focused on topics such as immigration and inflation, but there has also been a tendency to seek the vice president’s identity. Before the rally in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the Trump campaign released statements citing Biden-Harris as responsible for high prices and increasing crime rates, even though recent efforts have been made to stem the flow of immigration across the US-Mexico border.

In the economy, Trump said that Harris supports policies with a ‘communist inclination’ that may threaten America’s dream. While Harris is, in other words, promising to address similar goals, she’s vowed to concentrate on cutting expenses and steadying the economic climate for all individuals.

In a major policy speech in North Carolina, she presented measures touching on economic stimulation and increases in food costs. This, she said, includes being laser-focused on creating opportunities for the middle class and having an ‘opportunity for all’.
