Trump announces $500 Billion AI investment with tech giants

In a bold announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed a groundbreaking $500 billion investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure through a newly formed venture called Stargate. This initiative is a collaboration with tech giants Oracle, SoftBank, and OpenAI, aiming to significantly enhance the country’s data center capabilities.

Trump recently took the time to outline the plans for Stargate, which is initiating with 10 data centers already in construction in Texas, during a White House press conference. Structured to take on more investors, it’s a company positioned to rapidly create over 100,000 jobs.

“This is a massive group of talent and resources. Together, these world-leading technology companies are launching Stargate,” Trump stated, flanked by Oracle Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. He emphasized the company’s goal to keep technological advancements within the United States, citing competition from countries like China.

Stargate seeks to develop the physical and virtual infrastructure for the next generation of AI innovations, including large-scale data centers. Trump called these “big beautiful buildings” that would bring extensive job creation across the nation.

Ellison made it clear that all this was possible due to the great leadership of Trump. He added that the project has already begun, with its first data centers under construction in Texas, each half a million square feet. There are plans for expansion from 10 to 20 buildings and to add more locations.

Applications based on this will pave the way for a new era in areas such as electronic health records, enabling doctors to offer customized health plans with greater efficiency. Ellison added that even this could facilitate the sharing of knowledge among health professionals from different institutions and hence improve patient outcomes.

SoftBank’s CEO announced an immediate commitment of $100 billion, with a goal of reaching $500 billion within four years. He underscored the significance of this project, calling it one of the most important initiatives of the era.

OpenAI’s Altman expressed excitement about the potential of Stargate, stating, “This is the beginning of a golden age in AI. Being able to undertake this project in the United States is truly significant.”

He concluded by saying this is just the beginning, since he brought in nearly $3 trillion worth of new investments into the United States on his first full day in office-a number he says could rise as high as $6 or even $7 trillion before week’s end. “It is coming in at tremendous amounts in sectors other than AI, which itself is just one of them-the hot item.”.
