Trump enlists Tulsi Gabbard for debate prep against Harris

Preparation for the debate with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is still underway, and President DonaldPresident Donald Trump Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as a strategist. Gabbard also participated in Trump’s simulator training at the Mar-a-Lago, the club and residence of the president-elect.

Gabbard, who shifted her political stance from a Democratic-leaning Hindu-American representative to a considerably more conservative-leaning politician after her 2020 presidential bid, also previously clashed with Harris during a Democratic primary debate, immortalizing a particular diss of the latter’s law enforcement record.

Trump’s spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed Gabbard’s participation. She said that Trump has been an effective debater, and one of the instances was his meeting with Joe Biden. Leavitt was quick to assert. Obviously, Trump is not into debate preparation, but he respects the ideas and opinions of informed acquaintances like Gabbard.

It may be recalled that Trump once said that he does not need much preparation, but records indicate that he has spent more time preparing for debates than before this year. However, he still does not use traditional practice scenarios; there was no Mock Biden during his recent sessions.

During preparations for the first debate in June, Trump talked with his advisors informally about this or that question. Trump’s thinking is thus more layered when coming up with Gabbard, whose prior record of defeating Harris provides her with the experience necessary for the job. Her special place as a woman and a former legislator suits her for the gender-sensitive general election.

Still, Gabbard had run a controversy-raising campaign against Harris focused on her prosecutorial record, particularly the notable issues of marijuana and the death penalty. In return, Harris defended herself, pointing to the passage of deep and meaningful legislation in the Senate.

Harris resigned from her campaign in December 2019, while Gabbard resigned in March 2020. The next debate is expected to be another turning point in their political lives.
