Trump faces mockery over bulletproof glass at rallies

Former President and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is on the receiving end for having hired a bodyguard bulletproof shield for use at his subsequent campaigns after a July 13 attempted assassination.

After the assassination attempt, though, Trump has been very keen on his security. However, its bulletproof glass placed in front of the podiums at his future events is a subject of ridicule in social networks now. On X, users have posted multiple memes humorously referring to Trump behind the plexiglass separating him from others: one cruel joke reads: “It looks like they froze him in an ice cube. ” The image has been hilariously photoshopped into scenes similar to George Clooney’s Batman and Robin movie and compared to Scooby-Doo gags.

More jokes included comparisons to Star Wars. One user said Trump seemed poised for a freeze-frame in the style of the Han Solo movies right before he is frozen in carbonite. Another commented rather painfully, ‘He wants to be Mariah Carey so bad,’ commenting on Trump’s aloof personality. Other comments humorously portrayed him as the quintessential Christmas figure.

Also, an edited cartoon-style image was presented of Trump as if he were a man frozen in time alongside the bulletproof glass he must sit behind for protection, which elicited more laughter. Reactions varied from Light: “I feel like Han Solo—do you remember him? He fought an evil empire!” to more facetious ones, such as discussing how it would be correct to invite him to a meeting with historians after his presidency is over.

Donald himself is quite open to the campaign trips, and the Secret Service is also said to be mulling the use of bulletproof or Plexiglas to surround Trump when the latter is outdoors campaigning. ABC News insiders report that Trump has privately communicated the wish to conduct physically distanced outdoor rallies but is still waiting for the security word.

The shoot was attempted on Trump in a rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which the gunman fired from a rooftop, shooting the presidential nominee in the chest but missing, as well as killing an unrelated person. In the same regard, the Secret Service advised Trump to cease hosting such rallies, especially the outdoor ones. At the moment, plans are being made for glass panels to offer a shield around him during his rallies, though it is unclear exactly when these are to be implemented.
