In his joint address to Congress, Donald Trump appealed to the House of Representatives to “permanently ban and criminalise sex change on children”.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday recognized January Littlejohn, a Florida mother, who sued her daughter’s school, alleging they “socially transitioned” her child without informing her.
In his speech before a joint session of Congress, Trump urged the House of Representatives to “forever ban and criminalise sex change on children” as part of his battle against “wokeness” in civil society and the armed forces. As cameras from news outlets focused on Littlejohn, Trump explained that she and her husband learned their daughter’s school had covertly transitioned their 13-year-old daughter.
He said the teachers and administrators had plotted to mislead January and her husband, urging their daughter to adopt a new name and pronouns—all without telling January. January is a brave activist against this type of child abuse, Trump said.
Another White House visitor was Payton McNabb, who started speaking out against transgender girls being included in women’s sports after she suffered a head injury during a high school volleyball game. McNabb, an ex-high school girls’ volleyball player, got badly hurt after a transgender on the opposing team reportedly spiked a ball into her face.
Telling her so, Trump asserted, “Payton, starting immediately, schools will remove the men from women’s teams or they will forfeit all federal funding.” Trump previously signed an executive order that could deny federal funding to schools that allow transgender girls to play in girls’ sports. A proposed bill to update civil rights law and bar such participation was, however, voted down in the Senate on Monday.
