Trump lauds Musk on his ‘last day’ in administration

US President Donald Trump fawned over Tesla CEO Elon Musk as the billionaire celebrated his last day as the leader of DOG. US President Donald Trump heaped warm praise on Tesla CEO Elon Musk on the billionaire’s last day in the Trump administration. In a post on his social media site TruthSocial, Trump stated that he will hold a press conference on Thursday at 1:30 PM (local time).

He continued to lavish praises on Musk, referring to him as “terrific”. Trump put more emphasis in his post on the fact that it is Musk’s last working day as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head but that he will still be near the White House. “I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office,” declared the president in his TruthSocial post.

This will be his last day, but not so, since he will be always with us guiding us all the way. Elon is awesome! See you at the White House tomorrow,” he further added. It is important to mention that Musk’s tenure in the government concludes on May 30, as per the legal 130-day provision for his “special government employee” status following his appointment as head of Doge in January this year.

As described on the Doge website, Musk’s department was responsible for saving the Trump administration $175 million in asset sales, the cancellation of contracts, fraud payments and other spending reductions. Nevertheless, most critics consider these numbers exaggerated.

Since Musk took office, Democrats in Congress have harshly condemned his position. At a February House Oversight hearing, Rep. Melanie Stansbury characterized his influence as “reckless and illegal,” charging Trump with “outsourcing governing to a billionaire who answers to no one.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett cautioned Musk was serving as an “unelected official” within the executive branch. As Musk marks his return to the private sector, Tesla shares rose 4.2 per cent this week, Bloomberg reported. In an investor call earlier this month, Musk reassured shareholders that he will be more active in his role. Starting in June, I’ll be allocating far more time to Tesla and SpaceX now that the groundwork at DOGE is in place,” he told the shareholders.
