Trump pledges dramatic changes on first day as US president

Incoming President Trump Vows Sweeping Changes on Border, Energy, and Federal Workforce.

In a fiery pre-inauguration rally, the United States President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to usher in a “brand-new day of American strength and prosperity” by enacting a series of dramatic policy shifts during his first days in office.

Addressing a packed 20,000-seat stadium of ardent supporters at the “Make America Great Again (MAGA) Victory Rally” in Washington, D.C., Trump vowed that “by the time the sun sets tomorrow, the invasion of our country will have come to a halt,” referring to his plans to tighten border controls with Mexico.

The 78-year-old president-elect also promised to promote more oil drilling, a stark contrast to the outgoing Biden administration’s focus on renewable energy and environmental protection.

Additionally, Trump said he would take steps to rein in the federal workforce, a move aligned with his campaign promises to reduce the size and influence of the government bureaucracy.

Perhaps most controversially, the incoming president pledged to eradicate diversity programs, a decision that is likely to face strong pushback from civil rights advocates and progressive groups.

Trump’s sweeping agenda, outlined during the MAGA rally, underscores his determination to swiftly reverse the policies of the past four years, which he has repeatedly labeled as a “failed and corrupt political establishment in Washington.”

The event marked Trump’s first major address in the nation’s capital since his January 6, 2021 speech that preceded the storming of the U.S. Capitol by his supporters. The incoming president has vowed to pardon many of those convicted or charged in connection with the attack.

As the nation prepares for the inauguration on January 20th, Trump’s ambitious plans have ignited a mix of enthusiasm among his base and trepidation among his critics, who fear the potential consequences of such a dramatic shift in the country’s political and policy landscape.
