Trump survives Florida golf course shooting scare, suspect arrested

Donald Trump faced an apparent assassination attempt while golfing at his Florida club on Monday. As the presidential candidate lined up a shot, the Secret Service spotted a rifle barrel in nearby bushes. Agents immediately engaged with the gunman, exchanging at least four rounds of fire.

The man, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, managed to flee the scene initially. Secret Service agents swiftly escorted Trump to safety, using their bodies as shields.

Law enforcement from multiple agencies launched a massive manhunt for the suspect. Routh was arrested within minutes using BOLO alerts from the FBI, Secret Service, and local police.

Trump thanked officials for their swift and decisive response, calling it an “interesting day.” The incident has raised concerns about protection levels given his civilian status presently.

The Political climate remains highly charged in the aftermath of the 2020 polls and the Jan 6 incidents. Investigations are underway into security protocols and the suspect’s possible motivations.
