UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has expressed hurt and anger over a racist slur directed at him by a Reform UK campaigner in England.
The canvasser was filmed using a derogatory term for Sunak and also made disparaging comments against Islam.
Responding firmly, Sunak said witnessing such incidents with his daughters present deeply pained him. He highlighted the need to call out bigotry unequivocally.
Reform UK chief Nigel Farage sought to distance himself, labeling the video a “set-up”. However, he has faced questions over candidate screening.
Earlier too, many from the party campaigning for restricted immigration had been removed for offensive conduct.
Anti-racism monitors estimate over 160 candidates have withdrawn due to racist or intolerant remarks this year alone.
