The latter was recently confirmed by the alliance’s spokesperson, Farah Dakhlallah, and the format of the meeting would be at the ambassadorial level. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is due to speak with NATO partners via a video conference, report on the military situation, and share with allies the main requirements.
North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) and Ukrainian officials will convene on Wednesday (28 August) following the request of Kyiv. Nato stated this after a series of aimed Russian attacks across Ukraine.
Aerial attack by Russians on Ukrainians
Russia escalated its use of drones and missiles on Monday and Tuesday, attacking targets in several regions in Ukraine. The strikes led to the deaths of at least 11 people and worsened the already ailing energy supply system in the country. Ukraine’s electricity grid operator has resorted to emergency blackouts on Tuesday in a bid to ease strain on the system.
Kyiv stated that overall the 15 regions were targeted by 236 missiles and drones, one of the biggest air raids in the last couple of weeks. Ukrainian troops said that 201 of the approaching dangers were eliminated by them. The attacks evoked severe adverse reactions from countries including the United States as well as other European allies of Ukraine.
Moscow said that the strikes were targeted at facilities related to the Ukrainian armed forces. However, the NATO member Poland said that during the shelling, its airspace was violated, probably by an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Farah Dakhlallah, the spokesperson of the alliance, recently announced that the meeting would take place at the level of ambassadors only. The Ukrainian Defense Minister, Rustem Umerov, is likely to speak to NATO partners through a video conference, giving his assessment of the situation at the front and outlining the pressing requirements of Ukraine, which include every kind of replenishment and specifically air defense.
