Ukraine proposes aerial and naval ceasefire to US in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi summit will be the first Ukraine-US summit since a White House altercation between Trump and Zelenskyy. The Ukrainian President termed the incident “regrettable”. Kyiv will seek a ceasefire on air and at sea with Russia when it sits down with US representatives in Saudi Arabia this week, a Ukrainian representative said Monday as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the kingdom.

Those talks on Tuesday will be the initial Ukraine-US sit-down since a White House meltdown between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump that prompted Washington to suspend military assistance to Kyiv. We do have an offer for a ceasefire in the air and ceasefire on the seas,” the official said on Monday, requesting anonymity. “Because these are the ceasefire options which are easy to install and to monitor and it’s possible to begin with them.”

Ukrainian and US officials will sit down on Tuesday to find an exit from the war more than three years after Russia invaded in full scale. Zelenskyy on Monday declared Ukraine desired only peace, claiming Russia was the “only reason” the war was continuing. “Ukraine was and remains seeking peace since the first second of the war, and we have always stated that the sole reason why the war continues is because of Russia,” he posted on social media.

Ukraine has been wanting peace since the very beginning second of the war, and we have always insisted that the only reason it exists is Russia. I thank each unit and each brigade that is fighting for Ukraine’s positions, which are causing the destruction of the occupiers and making.

Zelenskyy stated that he would receive Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of the country, on Monday, then his officials will receive the American team on Tuesday. Zelenskyy has declared Ukraine is “fully committed to constructive dialogue”, yet desires its interests to be “taken into account in the right way”.

We hope for outcomes, both in terms of bringing peace nearer and ongoing support,” he said during his Sunday evening address. US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Washington wished to utilize the talks “to get down a framework for a peace agreement and an initial ceasefire as well.”.
