Ukraine secures $3.9 Billion U.S. grant for budgetary support

Subsequently, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry has explained that the grant money will finance only necessary expenditures, namely salaries for teachers, the staff of the State Emergency Service, and other public servants. Further, it will cover expenditures relevant to displaced persons, low-income families/individuals, and persons with disabilities.

‘The grant, planned to be received in the first months of 2019, will allow the Government of Ukraine to compensate for the priority social and humanitarian expenses without adding up the debt load,’ Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko commented on this decision.

Washington has contributed $26. 7 billion in direct budgetary support to Ukraine since February this year, said the Finance Ministry, citing data from the World Bank. Interestingly, Marchenko stressed that the grant is provided within the framework of the largest support package for Ukraine, which is $ 60 billion.
