Ukraine Makes ‘Tactical Retreat’ from Villages Amid Heavy Fighting.
Ukraine‘s top commander has revealed troops withdrew from three villages in the eastern regions after Russia concentrated significant forces. Heavy attacks continued along the over 1,000km frontline, according to reports.
In a Telegram update, General Oleksandr Syrskyi stated the most difficult fighting was seen in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove areas of embattled Donetsk. He noted Russia engaged up to four brigades to develop offensives near Avdiivka and Marinka towns.
The commander added the Ukrainian forces preserved lives by moving positions west of Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka villages following losses. Fresh troops have been rotated in the recalibrated locations.
“While achieving some tactical success, the enemy has been unable to gain operational advantage,” Syrskyi assessed.
Separately, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged international partners to expedite arms deliveries. Reuters reported that this would help Kyiv maintain its stance and thwart invading plans.
Zelenskyy highlighted needs like Patriot missile systems to the US House leader in a call, underscoring speedy procurement.
After over nine grueling months, fighting rages on across vast Ukrainian territories amid winter’s approach.
