The United Nations has warned that food availability in the Gaza Strip is at an unprecedented low due to Israel’s ongoing blockade. Reports indicate that some Palestinians in the besieged northern region have completely run out of supplies.
In the latest development, Israeli forces have stepped up their onslaught in southern Lebanon, leaving at least 11 people dead. This could threaten a fragile ceasefire forged with Hezbollah less than a week ago.
Since the beginning of hostilities on 7 October 2023, the conflict has caused devastating results in Gaza, with more than 44,466 Palestinians being reported to have been killed, and over 105,358 injured. The attacks that day also killed at least 1,139 people in Israel, along with more than 200 people who were taken hostage.
In Lebanon, also, the toll is worse than in previous attacks as of Israel’s recent onslaught: 3,961 have died and 16,520 have been wounded. These dire circumstances present urgent humanitarian concerns amid further escalation in violence within this already very vulnerable region.
