UN warns of sewage flood threat in Gaza amid escalating conflict

The United Nations’ Palestinian refugee agency issued warning claims over a half-million people in Gaza who are at risk to be flooded with sewage as the rainy season approaches, complicated by cold temperatures that could severely impact thousands of malnourished individuals.

In a related escalation, Hezbollah reportedly launched 340 missiles and drones at Israel, injuring 11 people, and causing damage to parts of Tel Aviv, as Israel keeps up its bombings in Beirut.

Israeli forces have also struck the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza with new attacks just a day after an attack that saw two people die and over a dozen medical staff, including the hospital director, get injured.

Since the start of the hostilities on October 7, 2023, Israeli actions in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 44,211 Palestinians and injuries to 104,567 others. On that day, Hamas-led attacks in Israel killed an estimated 1,139 people and left more than 200 persons in captivity.

As many as 3,754 people have died and 15,626 been injured since the conflict began in Lebanon, according to at least 3,754 deaths and 15,626 injuries caused by Israeli attacks.
