US accuses Russia of chemical weapons violations in Ukraine

The USA reportedly Russia violated the international ban on chemical weapons by supplying chloropicrin, which is the choking agent in the war against Ukrainian soldiers. Moreover, Russia is reported to have utilized noise weapons to target Ukrainian military groupings with the common purpose of disorientating and immobilizing the enemy.

As a response, the U.S. Department of State issued a statement expressing worries about the use of such munitions, implying that it is taking place to stipulate the gathering of Ukrainian forces from their strongholds and capturing a tactical spot on the battlefield.

Concerning OPCW, that it included chloropicrin in its list of banned asphyxiation agents made this a chemical banning initiative, which was adopted using the Chemical Weapons Convention. The Ukrainian military has found that, in addition, Russian forces have thrown grenades back there that were filled with CS and CN toxic gases. Thus, a part of the Ukrainian forces had to get medical assistance after exposure to toxic substances.

In support of these claims, the federal authority of the U.S. decided that the usage of chloropicrin by Russia against Ukrainian soldiers falls under the conditions of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Three Russian state corporations and four corporate bodies related to Russian chemical and bioweapon weaponry are affected by the sanctions as part of the measures.

A representative of the Russian embassy in Washington has not yet commented. It will be the responsibility of the State Department to inform the OPCW of this impact. At the same time, both Russians and Ukrainians will continue to trade accusations of violation in meetings at the OPCW.
