In a widespread disruption, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and other network users in the United States reported a drastic cellular outage on Thursday due to the downtime tracking website, Downdetector.com.
The outage, affecting most wireless networks, was first detected and reported to the service providers by the users. The number of outage reports increased significantly. AT&T, in particular, experienced a peak of 31,931 outage reports around 4:30 a.m. ET, the data from Downdetector also show that. The site accumulates outage information by assembling status updates from various sources, including users’ reported cases on their platform.
The fallout of the outage on other major carriers is also evident, with around 800 service outages observed for Verizon and T-Mobile on Downdetector.
‘Valued Customer, This is an AT&T FCC PSAP Notice about a Wireless & FirstNet Outage.’ The customers may be unable to make or receive voice or data calls to and from mobile, including emergency calls like 911. The first cause is outside AT&T Network. To contact the 911 resolution center, call 888-243-1911, option 5. “Thank you,” the message on my AT&T phone read.
With the users spinning out of control, the cause and length of the disruption are yet to be discovered. The cellular service providers are responsible for resolving the issue fast as customers search for answers and solutions to the massive incidences of service disruptions.
