US Revokes Hasina’s Visa after Bangladesh ouster, Asylum Sought

The United States is reported to have canceled the visa of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by insiders close to the opposition Bangladesh. This comes at the backdrop of claims that Western countries, most especially the US, wanted her out of power.

Hasina, who resigned and escaped to India due to violent protests in Bangladesh, is present in Hindon Airbase, in Ghaziabad, now.

Some of the European countries keep on being searched for asylum while it is evident that the UK has no intention of offering her asylum. It is also believed that soon she will join her sister Rehana, a holder of the UK passport, in the United Kingdom.

On Monday, the military facilitated the movement of Sheikh Hasina from Dhaka after sustained civil pressure because of the protests against her reservation policies.

The protests have degenerated into acts of violence, and there has been a loss of over 440 lives in the recent weeks. Only a few hours after Hasina resigned from her position, people invaded her residence, destroying anything that they came across.

When Hasina arrived in India on Monday, she was welcomed by India’s national security advisor, Ajit Doval, and high-ranking officers of the Indian military, who ensured her full security.

During her flight, the Indian Air Force was right on her tail, using Rafale fighter jets to shadow her aircraft. The situation in Bangladesh remains tense for a long time as the military declared the formation of it, whereby the government will be headed by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Prize winner.
