With the growing prospects of Iran’s attack on Israel, the United States is now seeking to reboot a coalition of nations that previously came forward to defend the Jewish state.
The current tensions were brought about by the recent execution of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which has put Iran in a vengeful mood. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been quoted as having given direct reprisal against Israel, which Iran pinned the blame on for the death.
As a result, Israel has prepared for the possibility of a three-pronged attack and is fully prepared for a third comprehensive war in the process.
The US has stepped up its regional signaling by deploying an aircraft carrier strike group, more warships, and fighter squadrons to the Middle East.
This comes after Tehran unleashed a heightened attack on Israel by firing missiles, drones, and rockets; this came in April after the assassination of some top Iranian commanders in a Damascus airstrike.
That was the first time Iran directly targeted the Jewish state, although the two have been in what security experts have referred to as a low-intensity conflict for years.
Now, Israel’s intelligence seems to think the coming Iran attack could be even bigger in scale and may involve Hezbollah and other Iran proxy organizations.
Besides, now Israel is to be ready for a war on as many as five fronts, the initiation of which may result from the Iranian attack.
America is now trying to renew the restoration of the April alliance when the US, UK, France, Jordan, and Saudi began supporting Israel’s defense. What a shocking coalition it was: Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia that do not recognize the state of Israel come out to assist in the protection of the Jewish state.
Despite this, the assassination of Haniyeh has created a vibrant anti-Israel public opinion across the region, thus challenging the US to recreate the same coalition, Axios.
The days and weeks to come will reveal the capacities, or incapacity, of Washington and its allies to prevent the Iranian threat from being unleashed against Israel.
