US warns of Imminent Iran attack on Israel amid escalating tensions

Some major international figures have asked Iran to’step back’ and undertake a diplomatic truce, and the global leaders have issued a statement on ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

New Delhi:

Iran and further its proxies are “getting closer to” attacking Israel in the next few days, according to alleged intelligence by the White House.

The threat could occur ‘as early as this week,’ Kirby, the press secretary said. The warning is made despite the Israeli military being put on full alert, or ‘peak readiness’ as the paper has described it, to prepare for a counterattack.

The Middle East is on the edge after Iran vowed to avenge Israel for two recent attacks. On 31st July, Ismael Haniyeh, Hamas leader, was assassinated in Tehran, and in Lebanon, Hezbollah’s senior commander, Fuad Shukr, was hit in an air raid.

While the situation continued to escalate, five leaders in the world—US President Joe Biden among them—called on Iran to ‘get out of’ the region, providing an official statement on behalf of the International Coalition in support of the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hamas. The US, UK, France, Germany, and Italy have stepped forward to ensure that conflicts do not worsen, resulting in more blood shed.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz resolved to take personal measures with regard to this crisis as each of them referred to Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian in an effort to reign in this military escalation.

Talks on a ceasefire are due to continue in Cairo, facilitated by Egypt and Qatar, on Thursday. But the White House spokesperson said that if Iran did this, then such talks could be delayed.
