Elon Musk faces backlash over controversial Biden-Harris assassination remark.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk reacted to reports of a second “assassination attempt” on former US President Donald Trump.
Responding to a user query on the incident, Musk questioned why no such attempts have been made on current POTUS Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris.
The controversial comment has drawn criticism on social media platforms. Trump had faced what appeared to be an attempt on his life during a campaign event in Florida, with the suspect later arrested.
In July, gunshots were also fired near an event where Trump was speaking in Pennsylvania. Musk had previously voiced support for Trump in the upcoming presidential elections. The former president also praised some of Musk’s decisions.
However, Musk’s recent remark appears to trivialize security threats to public officials and flout norms of political discourse.
As a global business leader with a huge following, his comment has intensified debate on the influence of commentary by influential figures.
