A man in Wales is fighting to retrieve £569 million mistakenly thrown away by his ex-girlfriend. A man in Wales is now locked in a fight to dig up a landfill to retrieve his lost wealth after his ex-girlfriend threw away £569 million (₹6,000 crore) by mistake.
It may sound funny to think that a person could throw away such a huge amount of money, and that is because it was stored in an old hard drive in the form of 8,000 bitcoins. The cryptocurrency is now worth a fortune since it was mined by James Howells in 2009.
Halfina Eddy-Evans said she took an old hard drive to a garbage fill in Wales, not knowing it contained the bitcoins. Talking to the Daily Mail, she said that she threw away her ex-boyfriend’s “rubbish” after he asked her to do so.
‘He asked me to’ throw it away. Yes, I chucked his rubbish; he asked me to. The computer bit was in a black bin liner with stuff he didn’t want, and he begged me to take it away. I didn’t know what was in it, but I reluctantly took it to the local tip on my way home from doing the school run,” she said.
