A Woman was found swallowed whole by a python in Indonesia.
In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman was discovered inside the belly of a reticulated python in Kalempang village of Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province. Farida went missing on Thursday night, prompting a search by locals, including her husband. On Friday, he found her belongings and grew suspicious of a large-bellied python spotted in the area.
Villagers cut open the five-meter snake and were shocked to see Farida’s head emerge, with the mother of four still fully clothed inside.
Such occurrences of humans being preyed on by snakes are rare but have been reported from Indonesia in recent years.
Just last year in Southeast Sulawesi, a farmer died after being strangled and eaten by an eight-metre python. Similarly, a 54-year-old woman’s remains were recovered from a python in Muna town in 2018.
Previously, a farmer also met his fate inside a four-meter python while working at a palm oil plantation in West Sulawesi.
While reticulated pythons are the world’s longest snakes and major predators, completely ingesting adult humans is uncommon, highlighting the grave danger posed. The incident has left the village in mourning.
