Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said the war with Russia is nearly nearing its end, appealing to the allies to consolidate Kyiv’s army.
The Ukrainian president is currently in the US, where he will present his “Victory Plan” to US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump.
We are closer to peace than we thought, and we are closer to the end of the war. We have to be very strong,” Zelensky told ABC News in an interview.
When quizzed about the much-hyped plan, Zelensky refused to give much away but asked for support from friendly nations.
“The plan of victory is strengthening of Ukraine. That’s why we’re asking our friends and allies to strengthen us. It’s essential.”
The Ukrainian president further said his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, was “afraid” of the Kursk operation launched by his troops.
“It’s true. He’s afraid very much. Why? Because his people saw that he can’t defend — that he can’t defend all his territory.”
Only from a “strong position,” said the Ukrainian leader, can Ukraine “push Putin to stop the war.”
